8th Days of Animal STudies – Calling All Bear Researchers

Excited to share a fantastic opportunity for animal studies enthusiasts! We’re thrilled to have attended last year’s 7th Days of Animal STudies conference and are already gearing up for the 8th edition in Split, Croatia (21-24 October 2026). As a teaser, check out the Call for Papers for the edited scientific monograph Bear in Mind  here.

The Days of Animal STudies bring together scientists, researchers, and advocates for insightful talks, workshops, and discussions on animal welfare, ecology, and beyond. This year’s bear focus promises deep dives into everything from conservation challenges to behavioural insights, all in the inspiring setting of Split. We’ve loved the collaborative energy in past years and can’t wait to reconnect!

The organisers have decided to add a dedicated monograph to the conference and start a series on the animal which gives the topic of the conference. The open-access volume welcomes papers from diverse scientific fields from biology and ecology to ethology, conservation, and cultural studies, all centred on bears. Full papers are due by 1st June 2026, followed by a double-blind international peer review. Selected submissions will be published by the end of 2026.

Looking further? Future Days of Animal Studies will spotlight bees in 2027 and horses in 2028, with companion monographs in the series.

We can’t wait to see the innovations you’ll bring!
