A summer kitchen among the trees. A quiet place to watch squirrels. Space to gather, learn something together, or fall asleep to the sounds of the woods.
There’s still work between us and that picture, but the foundations are becoming something we can actually stand on: two wooden terraces are taking shape at Cat Land.
The upper terrace will house a summer kitchen, bringing cooking and time together outdoors. Down a short flight of steps, the lower terrace will provide space for workshops, quiet wildlife watching, and the occasional night under the open sky.
We imagine sitting there and noticing what is happening around us: birds moving through the branches, squirrels going about their business, perhaps a deer passing through the woods. All on their own terms, and at their own pace. The best moments will probably be the ones we cannot schedule.
For us, this is part of the wider idea behind my Tikkun: making room in everyday life for other beings, for thoughtful encounters, and for a little more attention to the world we share. Cat Land’s cats are at the heart of the project; the surrounding woodland gives us plenty more reasons to stop and look.
For now, the photographs tell the construction chapter. Timber arrives, supports go up, boards become platforms, and the plans slowly become easier to picture.
The kitchen, workshops and nights outside are still ahead of us. But we wanted to share this part too: a place in the making, with plenty left to do and plenty to look forward to.
More from the woods soon…
