Recate ogni speranza, voi ch’intrate qui! – Share hope, you who enter here!

By gently bending Dante’s famous line from the Divine Comedy toward the sunny side, my Tikkun invites everyone interested in making the World a better place for all sentient beings to the first Tikkun-Agora, to be held in the township of Assisi, Italy, in late summer 2026.

2024 06 Sorriso di San Francesco Assisi 01
Sorriso di San Francesco, Assisi (Italy)

In a World where it is easy to lose Hope – both individually and in the grand scheme of things – this event aims to stir the embers of Hope: the Hope that change is possible and that everyone is required to bring it about. Whether through small gestures or significant actions, let us gather both offline and online for a day of presentations and the exchange of ideas.

Our German partner, Pro Animale für Tiere in Not e. V., will graciously host us at Sorriso di San Francesco (“Smile of St. Francis”), their animal sanctuary just outside Assisi. Here, we will have the chance to enjoy the company of numerous animals, listen to the “voice of silence” while walking in the valley among the olive trees, and connect with one another as we share ideas and experiences from our respective backgrounds and walks of life.

Speakers and Contributors:

  • Celia KettleLearning to live with the Natural Wild: Art, Biodiversity, and Conservation

“Drawing on the story of St. Francis and the wolf, this presentation explores how art can foster more harmonious relationships between humans and the natural world. Through the Noah’s Spaceship project, it reflects on biodiversity loss, species conservation, and the return of large predators, while demonstrating how creative practices using natural and found materials can raise awareness of environmental challenges and more sustainable ways of living.”

Workshop(s):

“This workshop aims to use art to create a sensory experience that mirrors the way animals are aware of and react to one another as they move through the landscape, individually or collectively. Using drawing techniques, we will work together to create a set of marks that map out our presence through expression, gesture and response as we interact within a shared space. Through tracing shapes, repetition, and the use of colour, participants reflect on presence, connection and coexistence.”
