Mad Octopus Ceramics

Mad Octopus / Emma Winter is an artist and designer based in Slovakia. Her primary focus and preferred medium is ceramics, a material she has been working with for over a decade. Alongside clay, she likes to experiment with various graphic techniques, which she often combines with ceramics.

Nature has been her greatest source of inspiration throughout her life. Although she initially aspired to study Biology, Emma ultimately chose an artistic path, transforming her deep connection to the natural world into the foundation of her creative practice.

Clay and art are an essential part of her everyday life. Ceramics, for Emma, is more than just a material—it is a colleague in the creative process, one she approaches with respect and sensitivity, feeling its life beneath her hands.
Through the wide range of techniques she has refined over the years, Emma creates distinctive, one-of-a-kind pieces characterized by subtle details and rich textures, spanning a broad spectrum of styles.
